Additional Usage and Extensibility Restrictions for Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional in preview

Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional, which is in preview, provides an easy-to-use application with a feature set that is curated to focused business requirements. This document outlines the Additional Usage and Extensibility Restrictions for Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional during the preview.

A customer who uses Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional will be restricted to the following limits.

 

Note: These Additional Usage and Extensibility Restrictions are tied to the Dynamics 365 preview organization instance (“org”) and not the Dynamics 365 tenant.

 

The restrictions listed here serve only as guidance to gather feedback during the preview period. Final restrictions and limitations may be materially different once the product reaches General Availability.

 

As indicated in the Terms and Conditions, during this period, we reserve the right to periodically update and materially change these restrictions without notice.

If you have a business need for a higher number of custom entities, accounts, applications, or storage, we recommend that you upgrade your org to Dynamics 365 for Sales, Enterprise.

 

Restrictions on customizations

The following restrictions are placed on the customizations that can be done within the provisioned Preview instance (“the org”) of Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional irrespective of user licenses.

Customization launch points

Any customizations set within the limits herein imposed, can be modified only from within the confines of the following surfaces:

1.       From within the Sales app module > Settings

2.       From within the Custom app module > Settings

Core Sales entities

Entities are used to model and manage business data in Microsoft Dynamics 365. For example, entities such as account, contact, and opportunity can be used to track and support sales activities. An entity has a set of attributes and each attribute represents a data item of a particular type.

Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional uses a set of entities that are included out-of-the-box for the Dynamics 365 platform.

In a Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional org, only the following entities can be used, and no other core out-of-the-box entities are allowed:

-          Contact

-          Lead

-          Opportunity

-          Opportunity Product

-          Quote

-          Quote Product

-          Invoice

-          Invoice Product

-          Product

-          Phone Call

-          Email

-          Task

-          Appointment

Core Sales entity data limits

The following entities are used in Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional  but are limited and must not be surfaced:

-          Business Units

o   1 business unit is provided out-of-the-box

o   No new business units can be created

o   Cannot modify existing business units

-          Price Lists:

o   1 price list is provided out-of-the-box

o   No new price lists can be created

o   Cannot modify existing price lists

-          Currency:

o   1 currency is provided out-of-the-box (chosen during provisioning of the org instance)

o   No new currencies can be created

o   Cannot modify existing currency

-          Units and Unit Groups

o   1 unit group and 1 unit is provided out-of-the-box

o   No new unit groups or units can be created

o   Cannot modify existing unit groups or units

Custom entities

Custom entities allow customers to create their own entities to meet business needs. Creating custom entities is outside the scope of the Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional app.

In a Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional org, a limitation may be imposed on number of new custom entities allowed.

Form customization

In a Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional org, no new Forms can be created on Core Sales Entities. New forms can be created for custom entities.

Unlimited customization of available forms is permitted.

Custom fields (entity attributes)

In a Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional org, unlimited creation and customization of fields is permitted within the confines of the Sales app.

Field-level security

In a Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional org, a limitation may be imposed on the use of field level securities.

Relationship mapping

In a Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional org, a limitation may be imposed on the use of Relationship Mapping.

Client-side programming

In a Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional org, a limitation may be imposed on the use of Client-Side programming.

Business rules (portable business logic)

In a Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional org, a limitation may be imposed on the use of Business Rules

Workflows

Workflows automate business processes without a user interface. People usually use workflow processes to initiate automation that doesn’t require any user interaction. Creating Workflows is outside the scope of the Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional app.

In a Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional org, a limitation may be imposed on number of new workflow processes allowed from the Dynamics 365 Custom app.

Business processes

In a Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional org, unlimited creation and customization of Business Process is permitted.

Task flows

In a Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional org, a limitation may be imposed on number of new Task Flows processes allowed from the Dynamics 365 Custom app.

Actions

In a Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional org, a limitation may be imposed on number of new Actions allowed from the Dynamics 365 Custom app.

Dialogs

In a Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional org, a limitation may be imposed on number of new Dialogs allowed from the Dynamics 365 Custom app.

Plugins

In a Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional org, a limitation may be imposed on number of new Plugins allowed from the Dynamics 365 Custom app.

Dashboard and chart customization

In a Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional org, a limitation may be imposed on the use and creation and customization dashboards and charts from the Dynamics 365 Custom app.

Security roles

In a Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional org, a limitation may be imposed on the use and creation of security roles from the Dynamics 365 Custom app.

Web resources

In a Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional org, a limitation may be imposed on number of new Web Resources allowed from the Dynamics 365 Custom app.

App modules

In a Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional org, a limitation may be imposed on number of new App Modules allowed from the Dynamics 365 Custom app.

Auditing

In a Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional org, it is not permitted to enable auditing.

Duplicate detection

In a Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional org, it is not permitted to create new duplicate detection rules.

In a Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional org, duplicate detection access is limited to the Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional app Settings Duplicate Detection page.

 

Restrictions on user data

The following restrictions are placed on user/instance data in Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional preview org:

·         Storage. An org is entitled to storage space of 5GB.

Relevance search

In Microsoft Dynamics 365, you can search for records across multiple entities by using Relevance search or Categorized search. Relevance search returns search results sorted by relevance, in a single list. Categorized Search returns search results grouped by entity types, such as accounts, contacts or leads. In a Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional org, relevance search cannot be used.

Mobile offline

In a Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional org, mobile offline capabilities cannot be used.

Unified Service Desk

Unified Service Desk for Dynamics 365 provides a configurable framework for quickly building applications for call centers, tele sales, and tele marketing so that agents can get a unified view of the customer data stored in Dynamics 365.

In a Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional org, Unified Service Desk cannot be used. 

 

Applications

The Dynamics 365 ecosystem allows customers to purchase and deploy third-party applications from AppSource.

In a Dynamics 365 for Sales, Professional org, a limitation may be imposed on the number of AppSource 3rd-party apps that can be deployed to the org.

Note: The custom entities and workflows that these apps use do not count against the customization limits that the org is entitled to.
