Before installing this update

Please read this file thoroughly before you proceed with any of the installation steps.

 

This update should only be installed if you are running Microsoft Forecaster 7.0 Service Pack 3. Check your Microsoft Forecaster version by performing the steps below.

  1. Launch Microsoft Forecaster 7.0
  2. Click the Help menu, and then click About Microsoft Forecaster
  3. The About Microsoft Forecaster window will provide a release number on the second line. Confirm you are running Release 7.0.1613.13 or above.

Issues resolved with build 7.0.1618.20

  1. 467705 – Forecaster closes unexpectedly.

Microsoft Forecaster Desktop client installation steps

  1. Close all running instances of Microsoft Forecaster.
  2. Launch the FC073HF5.exe file from the client machine for which you want to apply the updates.
  3. Click Setup from the Self-Extractor screen to begin the deployment for the updates.
  4. Click Finish once the installation completes.

Microsoft Forecaster Web Access client installation steps

Updates for Microsoft Forecaster Web Access client machines are deployed from the Web server when the user makes their initial attempt to access Microsoft Forecaster.

  1. Close all running instances of Microsoft Forecaster.
  2. Launch the FC073HF4.exe file from the Web server for which you want to apply the updates.
  3. Click Setup from the Self-Extractor screen to begin the deployment for the updates.
  4. Click Finish once the installation completes.
  5. The next time the user attempts to access Microsoft Forecaster from their Web browser they will be prompted to install the updated components.

Additional installation information

If the Microsoft Forecaster Desktop client and Microsoft Forecaster Web Access client are installed on the same machine, you may receive the following error message when launching the Microsoft Forecaster Desktop client after updating the Microsoft Forecaster Web Access client: 

This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

If you receive this error, run FC073H4.exe on the client machine to resolve it.

Desktop Client Rollback Steps for Windows XP

  1. Close all running instances of Microsoft Forecaster.
  2. Click Add or Remove Programs from the Start | Settings | Control Panel menu.
  3. Ensure the Show updates option is selected.
  4. Locate the update under the entry for Microsoft Forecaster 7.0 and click Remove.

  Desktop Client Rollback Steps for Windows Vista and Windows 7

  1. Close all running instances of Microsoft Forecaster.
  2. Click Programs and Features from the Start | Control Panel menu.
  3. Click the View installed updates button.
  4. Locate the update under the entry for Microsoft Forecaster 7.0 and click Uninstall.

Microsoft Forecaster Web Access Rollback Steps

  1. From the Web server click Add or Remove Programs from the Start | Settings | Control Panel menu.
  2. Ensure the Show updates option is selected.
  3. Locate the update under the entry for Microsoft Forecaster 7.0 and click Remove
  4. Uninstall the Microsoft Forecaster 7.0 Web Client from each machine that connects to the Web server.
  5. The next time the user attempts to connect to the Web site configured for running Microsoft Forecaster Web Access it will prompt the user to download the required components for the machine.
  6. Select to download the client components.
